The world of genetics is fascinating, but it can also be confusing

Genetic Counseling helps you to understand the implications at the medical, psychological and family level of your results.

In the preconsultation with your Genetic Advisor, information is collected to determine if it is necessary to perform a genetic analysis and the test that would be most appropriate for you, explaining the advantages, risks, and possible alternatives.

If you decide to perform the genetic study, the doctor will complete the prescription.

What is genetic counseling?

“We are here to help you understand your genetic testing options, and interpret your test results, so you can make choices that are right for your family.”

Sharon Namaroff, MS, LCGC, Director of Clinical Services

Why does family history matter?

By analyzing how certain traits or conditions show up in your family history, we gain a deeper understanding of your genetic picture. Your family health history informs how we assess your risks and what steps you can take to minimize those risks.

What can I do with the information I learn from sequencing myGenome?

In a word: lots. You’ll gain insights into your genetic disease risks, your genetically-influenced response to certain drugs, your carrier status for certain conditions and much more.

Work with your doctor and your genetic counselor to make smarter, healthier decisions.
