Veritas Genetics at The Festival of Genomics & Biodata London January 29, 2024 by elizarios Leave a Comment London has once again become the epicenter of European genomics, with the Festival of Genomics. More than 5,000 attendees, 280 speakers, round tables, workshops in which we had participated with Illumina and the London Genetic Centre. The evolution of sequencing technologies, with greater precision and lower costs, drives the progress of genomics and brings it closer to the general population. From Veritas we wanted to exemplify how this approach takes place with our presentation “Elective Genome Screening: Its Role in Clinical Practice and General Health Checks”. The presentation was led by Dr. Luis Izquierdo, Chief Medical Officer of Veritas, Jason Betley, Head of Advaced Science of Illumina, and Alexandria Noden Genetic Counsellor of The London Genetic Centre. The session provided information about the Veritas Genetics NGS laboratory and how we are advancing in the field of preventative genetic risk. Insights were provided about the development process and overview of the Veritas’ comprehensive genetic screening service myGenome. As part of his talk, Dr. Izquierdo stated, “Genomics has a central role to play in predictive, preventive and personalized medicine. The data provided by our experience to date shows how including whole genome sequencing in routine medical checkups allows us to predict and detect conditions that would otherwise go undetected.” Thanks to all the attendees and to the organization that, with their growing interest in this field, are expanding the frontiers of genomics day by day.
